Between Places, Between Us.

Welcome to Raíz & Ruta, an open journal of what stayed with me long after the moment passed. Memories, reflections, fragments of life that lingered still, as if they were waiting to be noticed and photographed through words, so that they may not disappear entirely.

I come here to slow down, to observe life as it happens before me, and to hold onto the flickering moments before they are gone, because the sweetest ones always seem to leave early, don’t they?

I was born in AQP, Peru and moved to California at age seven. Since then, I have lived between places, languages, cultures, and ways of seeing that never quite settled into one. Because of this, I now write in Spanish and English; I think and feel in both, and neither holds completely without the other.

At its core, Raíz & Ruta is about what shapes us and what we carry forward. The roots. The roads. The parts of us still becoming.

So dear reader, I hope at least one thing in these pages stays with you. Quietly, in the background. So that one day, in some unexpected moment, it returns to remind you that you are already enough –– even if you do not always believe it.

“Uno cree que la vida tiene una dirección, pero en realidad está hecha de interrupciones, de voces que se pierden y regresan, de caminos que no llevan a ninguna parte y, sin embargo, nos forman de una manera que no entendemos del todo.”
