A Journal of What Stayed

Welcome to Raíz + Ruta, an open journal of what stayed with me long after moments I loved came and went. Memories, reflections, fragments of life that lingered quietly, waiting to be noticed and held in words so that they wouldn’t disappear entirely. I come here to slow down, to jot about life as it happens before me, and to smile at the moments I once found myself smiling in. To write about my passions (coffee, health and fitness), my Peruvian heritage, and, of course, my family.

My name is Alberto. I was born in Arequipa, Peru, and moved to California at age seven. Since then, I’ve lived between languages, cultures, and ways of seeing that never quite settled into one. As I think and feel in both, posts here are generally in English and Spanish.

At its core, this blog is about what shapes us and what we carry forward: our roots, our routes, the parts of us still becoming. Yes, you guessed it: our raíces and our rutas. If you're here, I hope something in these pages stays with you, quietly in the background, so that one day, when you need it, it is there to remind you that you are not alone; that however lost you find yourself, your journey is still unfolding.
